A considered guide to life offline
The Analogue Life is a guide to physical objects, practical rituals and real world experiences. We bring together ideas for listening, making, reading, writing, playing and spending time with other people.
Start with the experience
Our starting question is simple: what would you like to spend more time doing? The answer might be reading after dinner, making photographs slowly or helping children create a game of their own. An object is useful when it helps that experience happen.
You do not need to buy something to begin. A library book, a borrowed game, scrap paper or a walk close to home can be enough. The guides include these starting points alongside links to makers and organisers.
How to read the collection
The collection is an editorial starting point, not a global sales ranking or a claim that every item has been tested in person. Product links lead to official maker or organiser pages. Use those pages to confirm specifications, current prices, shipping, returns and availability in your country.
Descriptions are intended to help you understand a possible use, not to declare a universal best purchase. The right choice depends on your budget, interests, existing equipment and how you plan to use it.
Children’s activities and sources
Our children’s guide groups activities by age to make browsing easier. Those groups are flexible; adapt each activity to the child’s interests, abilities and supervision needs. Cost and time figures are planning estimates.
The homepage links to research and activity resources behind the wider themes of play, making and movement. These sources are context, not evidence that every named activity guarantees a particular developmental result.
